Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is a 3D deformity of the spine causing sideways bending and rotation of the spine. It is often detected in early adolescence as the child starts their major growth spurt. (From around 10 years old). It occurs in approximately 3 percent of the general population and is more common in girls. The term “idiopathic” means that no one specific cause has been identified, although there are many theories as to why the spine starts to bend and deform.
When a scoliosis is diagnosed in adults, it is either a result of a childhood scoliosis which has only been detected in adulthood, or the result of spinal degeneration, trauma or disease. Adult scoliosis in older patients is often associated with complaints of back pain.
We provide a range of treatments from customised 3D bracing to scoliosis specific exercises:
1. Scoliosis assessments
2. Bracing
3. Scoliosis Specific Exercises
